AAME lunch seminar series: Ethnographic insights from within the fight against Boko Haram

October 17, 2018

After a year of managing a $350,000 research project for the European Union and Shell Oil in Nigeria, Patrick will be presenting an overview of over 100 focus group discussions and 500 interviews held throughout Borno, the heart of the conflict with Boko Haram.  In particular, Patrick will be highlighting the destruction of the $475 million fishing industry in northern Nigeria at the hands of unscrupulous members of the Nigerian Security Forces and their political cover in Abuja, as well as other avoidable setbacks prolonging the crisis.
