Dr Mohammadreza Kalantari: Power of Association: Shiite Quietism and Activism in the Middle East

Mohammadreza was awarded his PhD in 2015. His thesis challenged much recent research and writing on contemporary Middle East politics by questioning the notion that a meaningful distinction can be drawn between quietism and activism among Shiite clerical elites. Dr Kalantari is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at and Deputy Director of the Centre for Islamic and West Asian Studies at Royal Holloway University of London working on the project ‘Clerical Leadership and Islamic Extremism in the Middle East’.
